Have a look at the important phrase "new pixel oversampling technology". This generally means that it has (say) a 5MP sensor and interpolates the image to (guess) what each pixel would be if the scene was enlarge to 41MP.

Early low end point'n'shoot cameras used a similar system, but it soon fell out of favour.

I think it's the other way around. There are 41 real MP and it samples down to give images around the 5MP mark. This should help with colour accuracy and mean no anti-aliasing filter is required.

So yes, the sensor is really 41MP. Also it's huge, 1/1.2" - no idea how they fit that in (the lens is 24-28mm equiv, depending on aspect ratio, so I guess that helps). The pixels are 1.4 micron.

I am really knocked out with this monster megapixels matter. I think I will stick with my 18 megapixel cameras. They are good enough for hobby photographers like me.

I guess there is still some life left in the more pixels is better marketing tactic, but we must now be at the point where we select the camera for the intended pirpose, 6 MP is more than enough for most people for holiday and family pictures, 12 MP for enthusiasts who might print to A3 and anything above is probably only needed for specialist applications.
I think most of us are past thinking we need to upgrade just bacause oh higher MPs

BTW the iPhone 4S camera is 1/3.2" the difference is a lot:

Nokia = 10.67mm x 8.00mm = 85.33 sq mm with 1.4 micron pixels, f2.4 lens
Apple = 4.54mm x 3.42mm = 15.50 sq mm with 1.4 micron pixel size (!), f2.4 lens

That's about two and a half stops extra noise performance for Nokia based on sensor area alone.
