    Stoke or Glasgow

Just returned from a trip to Islay , not many photos took unfortunately (haven't been too well) but i did discover to my horror on the first day i had a large foreign body on the sensor of my 7D , the camera cleaner wouldn't remove it .

After speaking to the local photographer , i contacted Canon who recommended getting it cleaned at a Canon service centre , unfortunately the nearest one to me (Newcastle) is either Glasgow (A.J.Johnstone & Company Limited) or Stoke (H. Lehmann Limited ) which involves posting it . Anyone any recommendations between them two ? Or anywhere else ?
The funny thing is that on full auto the "body" doesn't show up but it does on manual . I thought it was something on the lens at first as it first showed up when i changed to my telezoom but it's definitely on the sensor.
    Cheers
    Gordon

Lehmans have a very good reputation. Why not clean it youself - its not difficult

I'd be tempted to put the cameras on a 30 sec exposure and try a Giottos Rocket Air on the sensor, 66% chance you'll be okay. (Just keep the nozzle out-bound of the mirror, for when it snaps back.)

The marks may not show up at wider apertures.
It's some time since I lived in the North East but I would have thought Bonsers in the Bigg Market Newcastle would have offered a Sensor Cleaning Service.

As DrJon says it would be worth a go with a blast of air on the sensor - I've cleaned mine this way with a Giottos Rocket. Don't use Compressed air!

I've used A.J.Johnstone in the past and they returned my camera body within a few days with a 6 month warranty

I am sure any Canon recommended repairer will be OK. I have personal experience with HH Lehemanna in Stoke on Trent. They were very good.

              Thanks for all your replies
Bob , Bonsers isn't the shop it used to be , i went in there when i was looking for the 7D and was disappointed by what i saw .
with the camera being less than 1 year old i'd rather someone else done it and i didn't bugger the sensor !
I sent an online enquiry to Lehmanns and haven't had a reply ( which seems strange ) , if i haven't had a reply by the weekend i'll send one into Johnstones .

Hoping so. My 24-105 is on it's way to them tomorrow having lost the ability to lock focus. *Gulp*

Feeling a lot better thanks Brian .
Still haven't heard anything off Lehmanns , which in my eyes if they can't be bothered to answer one of their online query forms they're not worth bothering with , over to the Johnstones site.......
