Silver Shadows 2 for Lightroom

Has anyone ever heard of and used the Lightroom presets "Silver Shadows 2". I am looking for something that can get me black and white processing close to Silver Efex Pro. The price of Silver Efex forces me to look for cheaper alternatives (maybe at a compromise of quality). Silver Shadows 2 costs about $54 dollars compared to Nik's $199, but I do not want to buy anything that does not offer significant improvement over Lightroom existing BW presets. Lightroom built in presets are ok but Silver Efex Pro is just so much more powerful... looking for an in-between

Sorry Donald, I have never used Silver Shadow. Have only used Silver Efex Pro & Pro II

Donald, have a look at Topaz Black& White. You can download a 30 day trial of the full product and it doesn't have any of the nasty watermarks some companies put on trial software.

Also, instead of using the LR presets, try experimenting without them. It is amazing what you can do.

There were some new B&W presets for Lightroom published by Matt Koslowski (sp?) from NAPP on his blog a couple of days ago (they are free so worth a look)

This is an example of the 'Strong' preset from this guy. I was totally amazed today when I used it.
