    Lens flare?

Is it acceptable to show images with lens flare? I know that some folks actually add it deliberately with editing software, but is it OK, or best avoided?

IMHO it depends on the shot, in some cases I would say yes and in others I would say no, not much help I know

I think it depends on the photograph, but I quite like it here...

Because generally it is best avoided, it is quite good fun to show some now and again.

            Re: Lens flare?

If you feel it adds something creative to the shot that's fine. My daughter goes all out to introduce flare because she sees it as part of her style of photography. So basically as always it is down to personal preference.

Thanks for the replies. I have a shot from this evening that shows lens flare, but I like it despite that. I'll likely post it tomorrow for some feedback. ... Must sleep now ...

I think that lens flare is fairly common in Movies makes it acceptable to frame close enough to a light source to get some flare and so add an extra element in some photos. Frank Doorhof, for one, is a fan of this.
