    Bugs, or lack of

    Is it just me, here in the hot S.E., but there seems to be a complete lack of bugs like hovers around. Hardly any bees either. Im finding it all a tad perplexing. Anyone else experienced the same?

    It's summer, the sun is out, but there don't seem to be many wasps around. Why?

      Good little article Celtex - may explain a lot. The only flies I saw on sunday were bright green beasties on vast heaps of dog poo on our local 'nature reserve'. I had to leave in a hurry because I felt positively sick.

        Come to Glasgow. I've been getting attacked by all manner of beasties all weekend lol

        I hate horsefly's absolutely hate them with a passion. I had about 5 attached to my legs on Saturday out on a walk.

        Everytime I see a bumblebee its walking along the pathway. I've seen about 3-4 wasps. I used to see honeybees a lot but not in the last two years.

        I also have about 6 nests of swallows/house martins/swifts because at night the low lying beasties flying about is enough grub for them I think.

        So yeah, Scotland has its fair share of flying cretins lol

              Same here Robin.
              My little garden is planted to attract bees and butterflies and I don't see many this year.
              My two potted buddleja are in full bloom and ..... nothing
