    Adobe Elements 8 -CRASH

I note that my elements 8 shows that it has "crashed". I am,at the moment, unable to use it and I wonder whether other members have had their "Elements" crash- whatever the series- 10,11 etc. I am wondering whether I should upload the elements 8 disk again?

    Many thanks

Yes, Alex. It says that the system has crashed and whether I wish to report the matter, and I clicked "Yes". Thats all I have heard to date. It only happened today, a short time ago.

        Nat,

at the risk of stating the obvious, have you tried shutting down the pc then turning it back on and launching the program again?

Sometimes these programs crash for all kinds of reasons (resources being used by something else for example and once they have crashed they won't work until they are turned off and on again properly - worth a try

wait for your pc to fully load, and don't open any other program or browser etc- just test to see if Elements will load

if not, see if other programs are working ok, to see if it is the program or your pc

have you done a windows update yesterday? sometimes this can cause an issue

I'm no expert but these things happen

Thanks Ian. Acutally I did shut down the PC as HP was installing some 8 new updates and only now I have switched it back on. All the other programs are fine and working well. I have still not tried the adobe program as it. I will let you know when I have done so.

            Re: Adobe Elements 8 -CRASH

I clicked back on the PSE icon and I get the screen which says "Organise/edit" and when I click on the "edit" symbol, I get the following message"Adobe has detected that the application Adobe Photoshop elements has unexpectedly quit. A crash report has been generated". That is all I get and I cannot use this program at the moment.

            Any ideas members?

              Re: Adobe Elements 8 -CRASH

Hi Nat not sure what version of Windows you are using but might be possible to do a system restore (if turned on).

Its in Accessories, system tools, system restore. If turned on this will allow you to roll back the PC to an earlier date. Just before the updates would be a good point. Once its restored you can try Elements again.

Your data will not be affected and the updates will have to be applied again.

Think the best solution would be to reinstall elements as I checked the Adobe forums and there are several posts about this and most have fixed it by reinstalling

Thanks for your help guys. I think I will re-install after I remove the original installation. I am using Windows Vista.
