Telephoto lens put to good use!

At the weekend a very pretty Racing Pigeon appeared so we fed and watered it, but could not read the phone number on its ring.
So I grabbed my 100-400 lens, put some more food on the ground and managed to get a shot of the phone number. I rang the number - in Cheshire and the owner rang back later to say that the pigeon is on its way back from France and would I mind feeding it for a few days more, and it will then find its own way home!

It is still here and very hungry, very good at avoiding the cat and we shall be sad to see it leave, but at least the owner knows where it is!

Well done Diana - you see photography can have its uses - not just pretty pictures!

He/she is actually feeding right in front of the stable where the cat lives - but he's very quick to hop on the roof if she appears, but it is a worry as she is a great hunter. He mixes in with the mallards that feed there and she hasn't taken them on yet, so maybe he feels there is safety in numbers!
