    Canon 50mmf1.4 vis Canon 40mm f2.8 (Pancake)

I notice that the colours from the 40mm f2.8 lens are much better and sharper than with the 50mmf1.4 lens. Any reason for this? I would have thought that the 50mm f1.4 lens will yield better colours.

(I would also like to add that the colours with the 24-105mm lens are also much better than with the 50mm lens).

Are you comparing picture taken with exactly the same aperture / shutter speed settings? I'm probably talking a load of ..... here but my understanding is that colour is a combination of reflection of light and absorption of heat of the object - therefore the quality of colour coming through on the picture is also down to the settings of aperture / shutter speed that you use to capture the light / picture?

I suppose things like white balance would also therefore affect it.

Although I wouldnt listen to me as Im probably way off the mark.
