    Alpine flower meadows?

Quite fancy taking the Canon gear for a walk through some alpine flower meadows next year. Happy to travel independently, but where and when to go? Has anyone any experience of such a trip?
Probably 2nd half June or first half of July, but Swiss Alps, German Alps, Italian Alps? Any towns close by? Good places to stay? And how does one actually find an alpine flower meadow?
    Any advice gratefully received.
    Cheers, Chris.

    Re: Alpine flower meadows?

Some time ago we went to Lauterbrunnen at the end of May and saw flower meadows all along the footpath along the valley. From there we also took the mountain railway and cable car to the top of Männlichen which was still covered in snow so as well as the flowers there will be plenty of opportunities for mountain views (weather permitting of course).

On Tripadvisor you'll find details of lots of hotels ranging from the humble to the very grand in Lauterbrunnen and the surrounding villages.

Thanks, Opiflex - I'll follow up those suggestions.

like your avatar - presumably Pont du Gard - brings back happy memories of visitng there.

      Cheers, Chris.

Yep, Pont du Gard it is. We're lucky to live not far away and visit often - the place has a particular atmosphere about it, especially in the evening when it's quiet after the coach parties have left.
