    Winter holidays - Italy

I'm thinking about having a winter break in Italy so I can get some snow photos

I've never taken photos in snow so I'll be researching this before I head off but I was wondering has anyone had a winter break in Italy? any ideas on places to stay to have easy access to a city / countryside ?

I'm thinking Turin / Milan as that should give me a train ride to the Alps, but I really know nothing about this region, or come to think of it the clothes for it considering the most I've worn in 8 yrs is a fleece

been to venice/lido de jessolo in mid feb ,plenty of snow on the mountains then but warm at sea level ,and thats the whole trouble the higher you get the colder it gets there so clothing can be a problem . the whole area is extremely photogenic though ,why not try and combine a a trip with the venice carnival thats to die for

its an option, I didn't consider that - I'm not sure how long we are going for so could spend a week in the "cold" and one at sea level - great idea, I think as you've just cost me more money
