    Canon Extender

Hi, I am thinking of purchasing a 2X canon extender. It would be used with my 100 to 400 telephoto on a 70D body.
I have been advised that getting a mark 2 would be virtually as good as getting the newer mark 3 and of course a lot cheaper.
Does anyone have any opinions on the merits of the Mark 3 over the 2, with the set up I am using.

    Re: Canon Extender

The 2x will not autofocus on a 70 D with that lens neither will a 1.4x. If you are happy with manual focus then a 1.4x would be the better bet but neither will give stunning results. I used to have the 100-400 and originally bought the 1.4x to use with it ut soon gave up

I tried a 1.4 ext Mk2 with the 100-400mm with the contacts taped up to make it autofocus, it did work but slowly and no good at all for my usual Pic's of Aeroplanes.

I tried the pin tape as well and the shots were still rubbish. If you really need the extra reach, trade the 100-400 and get a sigma 150-600 sport
