    Teleconverter

Hello I use a 70D with a EF 100 to 400L IS and am considering purchasing a teleconverter, because I am soon to visit Mozambique for about a month and would like some super close up shots. I also have a 6D with a smaller lens, I am not over keen on swopping lenses too often having got dust etc into a previous camera. I am aware there are now Mk 111 teleconverters so what is the advantage over the previous Mk 11 as they are obviously cheaper.

    Thanks in anticipation.

Alan have you considered hiring one? The 2x btw will be manual focus only.

Just a thought, though a month it probably won't be worth while.

£110 for 30 days, still a lot cheaper than buying. Can't help on the differences I'm afraid

P'S The equivelent yongnuo 2 xiii gets good reviews, and is a lot cheaper

        Re: Teleconverter

Is it the mark one lens, if so I have stopped using my tc with it, the focus with the 1.4 tc is slow, I lost a lot of shots because it wouldn't focus. Now only used on f4 or under lenses.

              Neither the 1.4 or 2x will autofocus on a 70D or 6D.

                Alan,

Have you considered the new Kenko HDx 1.4 &2.0 convertor? I use one with my 100D +70-300mm f4-5.6L lens and it is brilliant. Auto focuses very well too. I would cost you around £120 on Ebay or try Parks cameras. First of all look at the compatibility chart put out by Kenko which is very good. Only Canon and Nikon cameras and lenses are listed there.

                Hope this helps.

Yup Stan, I'm just spoilt with it working on mine, so forgot to say it does on mine.

                    Re: Teleconverter

To be honest with those cameras and lens I would abandon the idea of a t.c ,you would be better off buying a sigma 150-600 C and use that instead .

                      Re: Teleconverter

The sigma C & S models need a "punka puller" to help carry it with you all day. The telecovertor is a cheaper ,lighter and viable alternative. I have no regrets with my Kenko HDx TC.
