    Polarising Filter

    Hi all,

I was lucky to recieve a Circular Polarizing filter for Christmas , as the skys are permenantly gray at the moment not yet used it, I assume they work as in the specs (when fishing they cut reflections from the water etc.) It is also "HD" what does that mean. nothing to do with the normal understanding of HD, as in vidio Recording I presume, dont really use that element on my camera

Happy new year to all on the forum, and thanks for all the help freely given over the last month or so.

    Re: Polarising Filter

Not just cuts down reflections but also improves saturation, reduces glare and stops the lens by up to 2 stops.

As for the "HD", this is just a marketing gimmick, I'm sure one day there will be a Coke HD if the marketing dept. has their way. Just Hoya jumping on the bandwagon. I'm assuming Hoya have improved the coatings on their filters.

EDIT: Looking on the www, it looks as though the HD does mean Heavy Duty. They use specially hardened glass for the filters.
