    Help

As you will have seen from a previous post, I purchased a second hand 70-300 Canon lens from B&H while on holiday in NY. Tried it on the camera in the shop and took a few shots and it seemed ideal. Took it out yesterday for a session and discovered the front focusing section is very stiff and sometimes even gets stuck making some shots slightly out of focus. Is there anything I can apply or do to loosen it off?

Hi David not familiar with this lens, but is there a ring for tightening and loosening it. I know there is on a lot of lens such as the 100-500.
The other option is to check flight times back to New York

David I think I misunderstood your problem. I was referring to the Zoom which you can tighten and loosen. The focus problem you have must be internal I think, sorry can’t be more helpful, hope someone on here will be.

Morning David, my thoughts on the problem, if the lens is faulty (it seems to be from your description) my first suggestion is to contact B&H to discuss how their warranty works, it seems that they do provide a warranty with secondhand equipment.

From their website they do offer a warranty "Each item in our used inventory also carries a 90-day parts and labor warranty."

Suggest to B&H that you get a repair estimate from a Canon authorised repairer. There's one in Glasgow https://www.ajjohnstone.net/ once you have the cost of the repair advise B&H.

I would hold fire on any DIY repairs as they may invalidate your warranty with B&H, IHTH
