Canon Cash Back-Jessops

Puzzled Today-Birmingham 5d mark 2 with 24-105 L £2100 less £300 cashback so £1800. Body only £1500 no cashback only available on lenses I was told, buy the lens and it's £900 with £40 cashback. I have rounded the figures to the nearest £100 but 2+2 is not making 4 !! My son who's a Cambridge Ph.D and was with me has no answer.
Any ideas please how all this makes sense

I was puzzled too!

I was looking at the cost of a 7D with 15-85, and the sums don't seem to add up.

I guess it's a case of finding a price you're happy with, with a retailer you're happy with and making the purchase... then just stop looking, to avoid disappointment!

Well as you say Mike it makes no sense, buy the 5d plus 24-105 (I have one) and sell that lens for £700 ? so you get the 5d for £1100 new ????????????? Some how I don't think that will work but lets see

Hereford-Stephen I don't follow you, are you saying we have to buy 4 lenses to get the max' cashback ? The Camera with lens was offered with a £324 cashback in store, body £1500 interest free if I bought THEN as they only had one left. We just said your figures make no sense and yes we then got the "Grey Import" and warrenty argument so we left.
I think your better off with a car dealer !!

Yes, the maximum cashback is £320.00
The maximum cashback is only achievable by buying 4 x 70-200mm f/2.8L IS lenses (4 x £80 = £320)

I think the salesperson made a mistake and does not understand how the promotion works.

I think this Canon cashback promotion is pretty crap (IMHO) as you have to buy either a 60D, 7D or 5D Mk II before you qualify for the lens cashback. Then you have to by the qualifying lens(es). All this during a world recession.

Just work it out:- Camera plus 4 qualifying lenses
Canon EOS 5D mkII £1474.00
EF 16–35mm f/2.8L II USM - £1119.00 (£50.00 cashback)
EF 24–105mm f/4L IS USM - £ 889.00 (£40.00 cashback)
EF 70–200mm f/2.8L IS II USM - £1829.00 (£80.00 cashback)
EF 100mm f/2.8L IS macro - £ 699.00 (£30.00 cashback)

Total spend (based on WEX prices) = £6010.00 and qualifies for only £200.00 cashback (less than 3.5%)
