Can't understand why the English batsmen should struggle against the OZ bowlers when they are not in the same league as the South African bowlers? Our much vaunted top three have failed to put the boot into the Aussie bowlers. Others have simply given away their wickets when they have reached the fifties whilst others like Matt Prior set out to hit the ball into the Thames without first getting their eye in.

Yes, you are right, Nat. It is curious. England should have been looking at 400-plus in their first innings, now they are struggling to get 300.

My only comment is, apart from his fielding why do we still pick Peterson? However, I'm not sure about his fielding at the moment either after that shocking drop at 1st slip. At least Nathaniel, our batting prowess wasn't as embarrassing as Australia's collapse.Am I qualified to comment on others!

I am coming to your conclusion re Pieterson. He is so inconsistent. If he is dropped, Nick Compton can come back and Root can bat lower down.
Our batting was vintage stuff in Australia in the last Ashes series down under.
