Ouch ... but glad its had a good outcome

A friend of mine started having problems a few months back and found out it was a detached retina - he's had one op that failed and is going for another next month, poor bugger has 10% visibility and if it doesn't work next op will probably loose the sight in that eye - he's sports mad as well

Certainly brings it all home the problems you had and my friend - I've just bought some new protection glasses for when I'm doing any diy or indeed gardening

The problem is Tigger that a detached retina ( like a torn retina - which unfortunately I have suffered 3 of) normally starts at the peripheries of your vision - you have this feeling something is not correct but you can't be sure. I'm told the a detachment (or a tear) is rather like when thin wallpaper starts to peel off a damp wall - if you don't fix it quickly it rapidly starts to peel away even more. This tends to effect older people more because as you age the jelly in your eye starts to pull away from the rear of your eye and tugs on the retina.
Moral - if in doubt see a specialist eye doctor ASAP !

Thank you - and yes about 95% back to normal, still a little tender like I have been punched in the eye and a little blurry sometimes but I am just about healed.

Had stuff in my eye before but this by far and away the scariest to date and if I have my way the last time!!!
