New website domain names

I know some members have their own websites. What you may not be aware of is that a whole raft of new domain extensions have been released.

One that may be of interest is the .pics one. I just bought one for myself for $17 a year and will just link it to my existing site.

I'm not a fan of these new extensions as it does confuse people and from a commerce viewpoint a nightmare. Thankfully I've been able to put most clients off from buying them other than a couple that thankfully I don't work with a lot...

For a bit of fun maybe, but how many times are you going to explain " no not .com/co.uk/es, its just .pics"

The other photography themed ones are photo,photography, photos, pics, pictures, pro ..... or if you've got loads of money to spend .anything you want, but it will cost 10k

So, what did you buy? colins.pics ?

The only advantage I can honestly see from any new releases is the opportunity to bag a short name that is easily remembered.

mind you, you do have to wonder when Nominet are going to stop taking the p@$% as you can buy .xzy for 99p lol...

I was going to buy a .scot domain name which came onto the market in Sept/Nov but they want around £24 for the first year then it was rising to £36 the second year which I think is a bit of a rip off as you can get a .co.uk for around a £1

is that Scottish £ or English ones
