I have some background in it - a degree in Physical Science from the OU - but since I graduated in 2010 most of it's leaked out of my ears...
While SR and GR are relatively OK to get your head around in simple terms, it's only stuff like tensor calculus that freaks people out, QM is just too weird for any rational person to get their head round. Once I'd graduated I tried to do the OU QM course twice but had to drop out due to pressure of work. Even then it was like nailing jelly to the wall. Every time I got it lined up on the wall and picked up the hammer, the jelly would leak through my fingers and drop on the floor.
