    Hanging by a thread....

I was footling around in the garden this morning and saw a spider thread glinting in the sun. Not expecting too much success, I decided to try and capture it and was pleasantly surprised when the auto-focus (which was set on "single point spot" ) locked onto it with reasonable ease. To my mind, to pick out something that thin at a distance of around 5 feet is quite a technical achievement.

Brilliant, I wonder how the auto focusing would have coped if you had a spider on the end?

Its quite incredible. Some months back I was photographing a stonechat and the focus would not lock on, I then realised it was picking up a spider thread running between two gorse bushes.
