    A puzzle for you.......

What on earth could have made this strange track in the snow on our drive this morning?

Note that the track begins & ends within the width of the drive.

Don't expect any big reveal - I'm asking because I don't know the answer!

Thanks for that Trev - I can see that the pattern is consistent with that hypothesis - but how to explain that the track starts and ends within the width of the drive - there is no indication of coming onto the drive from the road, or of returning to the road - I’m still puzzled.

My first thought was a wheel with snow chains but if it can't be that it must be Devil's Footprints

        Cheers,

Have you got cables above this part of your drive? Snow and frost melt of the cables and make unusual patterns on the ground.

This has been bugging me - the only (vaguely) plausible explanation I can come up with is that :-

            a) before it snowed, a car shed a snow chain which either spun off and landed on the drive, or was moved there out of the road by A. N. Other

            b) it snowed and covered the chain

            c) the owner (or an acquisitive other person) walked by and picked up the chain (note the footprints leaving the road and alongside the chain).
