I don't normally like colour popped images but this one is very well done and makes the flower head really stand out against the BG, nice work Nigel.7D, 400D, EF-S 15-85 f3.5/5.6, EF 100 f2.8 USM macro, Sigma 10-20 f4/5.6, Sigma 70-300 f4/5.6 APO, Sigma 50 f1.4, EF 28-90, EF 90-300, Sigma 150-600C, 430 EXll, Yongnuo 568 EX ll, Yongnuo Triggers, Yongnuo YN14-EX Ring Flash

Nicely done Nigel, it works well, I can see a potential square crop working to remove a bit of the RHS.Peter

Thanks everyone.
I try not to do too much colour popping as it became something of a cliche when digital really began to take off. I also find that it's only works on a limited range of images; mostly those which have a limited colour palette to begin with - this one for example was mostly rather dull, dried out, greens with only the rose adding any real colour. It also helps to already have a definite subject, eg the rose, in the picture rather, than was all too often the case, trying to use colour popping to create a subject where none existed.
Don't think I dare crop this one down any more Peter as it came from my D30... I've already sacrificed about half the picture - any more and I fear you'd be able to count the pixels...Nigel
