    I don't normally like colour popped images but this one is very well done and makes the flower head really stand out against the BG, nice work Nigel.

        Nicely done Nigel, it works well, I can see a potential square crop working to remove a bit of the RHS.

          Thanks everyone.

          I try not to do too much colour popping as it became something of a cliche when digital really began to take off. I also find that it's only works on a limited range of images; mostly those which have a limited colour palette to begin with - this one for example was mostly rather dull, dried out, greens with only the rose adding any real colour. It also helps to already have a definite subject, eg the rose, in the picture rather, than was all too often the case, trying to use colour popping to create a subject where none existed.

          Don't think I dare crop this one down any more Peter as it came from my D30... I've already sacrificed about half the picture - any more and I fear you'd be able to count the pixels...
