    Muncaster Fell

I led 10 on a 12 mile walk over Muncaster Fells. The fells themselves were swampy (well it’s peat) and to add interest there was a prolonged thunderstorm over the central fells (but fortunately it stayed there) and we had a brief shower. One footpath had turned into a river which we had to ford. Timing was impeccable; at Irton Road two steam trains crossed as if to order and the at The Green one of the group with an injury decide to take the train which arrived as we did. For trains see http://www.eos-magazine-forum.com/sh...skdale-Railway

MX thanks for the Monday morning fix, this looks to be a totally different type of walk for you, not over the rough boulder type terrain.

Hi there, Nice set of shots from what must have been quite a tough walk, I like the framing of number 3, but also the Roman Bath House, nice and sharp.

            Regards Paul

              Re: Muncaster Fell

Thanks everyone. There's a lot more of the bath house under the ground, but it hasn't seen the light of day for I guess 100 years.

btw - the best way to get there is direct from Ambleside via Hardknott Pass ... superb drivers (2 or 4 wheels) road with hairpins and 1 in 3's. It's much nicer that the meandering ‘main’ road from Kendal.

                    Thanks Tom and Di.

I have to admit I missed a Red Squirrel again (same place as last time) ... he was just too quick running back to his drey.
