Visited Betws-y-Coed for a 9.5 mile walk. There was a lot of snow particularly seen from the A55 between Connah's Quay and St Asaph. There were many cancellations so it was just me and a lady who de-coached first at Llanrwst. A quick look south (towards Betws-y-Coed) and it was clear the western route would be better. However we still encountered snow several feet deep.
There was much virgin snow obfuscating footpaths (and signs). So a forestry track seemed the best bet. This ends up at Ty Hyll (The Ugly House) on the A5. We then followed the Afon Llugwy to Betws-y-Coed (and made a detour to find the 1930 built suspension footbridge). It was -2C with a near continuous 15mph wind from the east. But appropriate apparel meant we were warm. Anyway here are some ffotograffau's
1. Red & White (just liked the colour on what was a drab day) at Bwlch-yr-haiarn
f/4 1/1000 ISO-200
2. The disused Hafna Mine (near Nant Uchaf)
f/4 1/640 ISO-200
3. Rhaeadr Ewynnol (Swallow Falls)
f/4 1/640 ISO-200 (6 image vertical stitch)
4. Lamb wondering what the white stuff is
f/5.6 1/1000 ISO-200
5. Caught this Red Welsh Baby Dragon landing on the railway station
f/5.6 1/250 Iso-200
6. The Route
40D plus 24-105L
Feel free to report narrative and technical blunders.
Thanks for stopping by (Diolch am stopio gan).
