I had intended going down to Easedale and then up Sergeant Man and back via Gibson Knott (Plan A). But that was all in low cloud and would have been a foolhardy venture on my own. So I tagged on with a group doing the East of Grasmere which didn’t seem afflicted by cloud when we started. Route was a simple one Stone Arthur(1650’), Great Rigg(2513’), Heron Pike(2008’), Nab Scar(1493’) and then down to the Coffin Trail and back to Grasmere. About 9 miles with some steep ascents and descents, but because it was hot and very humid felt like a lot more. I consumed a record 3,5L of fluids (water and isotonic). Still a walk most hard and splendid. So not a particularly exciting set of images. Many taken at ISO400 (midday in June !!).
1. The view towards Easedale Tarn at the start
2. Is this Great Rigg I was asked, erm No still another 200' to go.
(I was using my GPS)
3. Looking down on Rydal Water
4. Looking south from Nab Scar
Lakes are left to right; Windermere, Esthwaite Water and Coniston
5. A money tree
This one on the Coffin Trail
6. Helm Crag (with fells still in cloud in the afternoon)
This would have been the last ridge if I'd done Plan A.
As ever my 40D plus 17-40L. Felt I was lucky to salvage anything from a far from ideal day. But feel free to piont out errors.
