    Kestrel 2017-6

    Further update.

Due to being away for a few days and some terrible weather not visited the site since last post 10 days ago.

Was quite determined to go this morning unless pouring down. Luck was with me and we have nice sunny morning today.

As you might expect the young have changed quite a lot in these few days with a lot of adult plumage now in evidence.

    Enjoying the early morning sun

However, as some of you might have noticed there are now only 4 young. No idea what happened to the other one it could be any number of reasons. Remaining 4 look strong so hopefully all will fledge.

While I was there the young suddenly dived to the back of the nest and huddled together. Initially I couldn't see any reason for this but moments later both adults were harassing one of the local herons that was passing by. Unfortunately below tree level so no image of this pursuit.

              Thanks everyone.

Really getting to grips with 7D2 and Sigma. Needs some careful use at max focal length but considering I've not got steadiest of hands very pleased with keeper rate.

Bit of MA needed but not too bad even so.
