Went to a local falconry centre recently as a day out and to see how the new R6 performs at taking BIF. I appreciate that pics of captive birds in flight is not considered appropriate here but they do show how good the R6M2 is. I have intentionally photoshopped out the jessies on both pics. There are other pics that I could post but the jessies are very apparent and too tricky to edit out.
This barn owl was being flown between two handlers. BIF is not something I do very much of at all so it was very much a learning session, latter shots are quite an improvement on the first ones; panning and following takes practice. Not all the shots were a success of course but the success rate was high.
Both these were taken with the mechanical shutter on the H+ setting at 12 FPS using the EF100-400. Shutter speed was 1/3200sec, f5.6, ISO 500. The AF was set to detect animals (which includes birds)
