I have to agree with Stephen. I have a 7D and the battery lasts very well indeed and mire weight would be counter productive. Also think the grip is ugly in addition the number of times I've heard of someone climbing monster hill to find that the half charged battery as suddenly expired. If your spare is in your bag away you go if its in the grip bummer!!!!

I'm using a 70-200 2.8L IS USM II on my 7D which adds 1.5kg to the front of the camera. I haven't even thought about a battery grip lately, maybe because I think its well balanced. I would probably really want one for the quick shifting between portrait and landscape and the extra battery life.
