    remote shutter release

I presently own a 1d mk2 with a cheapo cable release which occasionally doesn`t operate the camera so my question is should I get a canon cable release or is there a radio version?

Hahnel Giga T Pro II Wireless Remote Control gets my vote.
The camera works just fine, it's the idiot staring through the viewfinder that need's help!

I too have Giga T. Works well, able to keep my hands warm in my pockets when photographing aurora in Iceland.

As they mount on the hot shoe no but as they are radio then just let it hang on the cable

The common or garden Canon RS80-N3 is super reliable, no need for batteries, you can still use your flash and if you are that bothered about the cold, the lead is long enough to go in your coat pocket whilst you use it ............... just don't walk too far away from the tripod though.

Plenty on auction sites from £15 - £30, with others from £3 - £10 in what looks like Canon packaging.

I bought the Canon RS80-N3, way back when I had a 30D, kept it and used it with a 7D, still using the same one now with the 5D Mklll.

                  Its been 100% reliable.
