    5D Mark III First impressions

Got my new MKIII last night.
Thankfully battery same as MKII so was able to play straight away.
Although there are a lot more features to this camera I was able to navigate features quickly and easily.
took few test shots in room light to see how iso would perform.

1st shot of random object with my canon 5d mark iii, testing out low light performance, this was shot, f5.6 iso 6400, handheld with my 70-200 f2.8 is, no processing, straight out of camera

another shot with mkiii from lit living room into dark hall, iso12800 f2.8 1/100 sec handheld

going out tomorrow with tripod to try out a few landscape shots up at the hermitage.
was out today but conditions were a bit flat, however 100% crop of images I took showed much more detail at 100% than my mkII.

    and 100% crop

just quick handheld shot of view through framing of bridge, looking forward to trying out properly with tripod tomorrow

I think the quality is quite oustanding.
The camera works just fine, it's the idiot staring through the viewfinder that need's help!

Decided to push iso to limits tonight, shot blossom on tree outside my house against night sky, no flash, taken about 9.30pm. iso 12800 f8, 1/8 sec, handheld, 70-200 f2.8 is ii (is on)

Thats freaky. The way these high ISO things are going, you'll be able to take photos with the lens cap on soon!

Photography is all about light, to be able to take photos like that in the dark is clearly the work of the devil!
Oh how I love my 50D - keeping ISO in 3 figures brings sanity.....and jealousy in equal measure.

haha Brian, I mainly do landscape at iso 100/ or 50, however I also do band photography, i low light gig situations, and up to now have been maxing iso at 5400 on 5dII(at a push), but can comfortably up iso to this level and feel confident in quality.
hope to have first gig shoot soon

                            Stu,

If you are looking for a gig, I'll be busking outside M&S on the Murraygate in Dundee on Saturday afternoon, you are welcome to shoot as many images as you like. I'll be looking for donations to my Mk. III fund
