Here's a few from today's effort. Not terrible like the last lot but not blowing me away either. I'll try a day with the 6D next time and see how they compare. AM posting in separate threads to avoid the 503.

Maybe I'm being a bit hard on myself there because a couple look nice and sharp but they have had some sharpening in LR. The last one was noisy as it was in a shadowy spot with ISO 3200 and thats where you have your big problem with the 7D. I reduced loads of noise out of the background using Define2.

I'm going to try and do a proper job on the MFA outdoors where I can get the full 50 meters and see if that helps.

It wasn't a 503. It was me being stupid. I posted links to my dropbox not realising they were private. Fixed now. So I guess that means no one saw the soft ones from the other day either - will fix those in the previous posts now.

The examples I posted the other day didn't post but I fixed the links now and for info they are here. Of course these are really noisy as they are high ISO and haven't had any work done on them. It's the softness that was my bigger worry with these. These were easy pickings too so no reason I can think of for them to be soft.

Lol after banging their heads off trees for so long it was bound to happen Colin

Well the 7D is now sold, someone bought it on Ebay last night. One word on the AF issues though. Jeff (The Black Fox) said to change a couple of things in the settings, so I did, went back out and BOOM keeper rate increased. I still say the lens needed calibrated to the body though, but there was a massive difference. Bit too late now as it was on Ebay and now sold but hopefully it's replacement will be a new start :)

its good to know that tip worked o.k paul, weird but factual and goes against what the majority deem as the right way ..whether its best in the general scheme is debatable but as neither of us will have a 7d to play with it doesn't matter .not going to recommend it on here as neither of us can validate it now

because i can by blackfox wildlife and nature imaging, on Flickr

one from the 1Dmkiii yesterday plus 400mm f5.6 hand held ,cropped to 1mp to see what the effect would be on sharpness and noise levels ,not meant as a perfect example purely a test subject .p/p to my normal workflow standards .

Your ability with the 1D shows Jeff. I just hope I can pull it off. Plus that 400 5.6 is not an easy lens to follow birds with. Honestly had no idea it would be that hard. I think I need to work on my hand holding technique.

Have seen quite a few bird photographers use red dot sights for flight shots. Used in shooting lot.

After a bit of setup these are easy to use as they don't need you to put your eye close to the sight and its easy to have both eyes open and see what's happening.

Bit hard to describe but work well.

This is similar to one I've used. Lots of different styles and prices.
