    Thanks for all the input folks I've mulled it over and think I've made my decision between 1D3, 1D4 and 5D3. Just one more enquiry to make and then I'll take the plunge. Pics to follow and then you can all decide if I was right :)

      Looking at the body for sale (in your first post), it looks like it's been round the houses a few times, while 1 series bodies are built like the proverbial outhouse, they are not indestructible. I've had 4 x1 series bodies, and generally have been OK (a 1DS MKII had to go in for shutter replacement), the repair costs are generally higher than non pro bodies.
