I've often wondered why so much attention is given to how many focus points a camera has ...
I see reviews bemoan the fact that for example the 6D has 'only' 9 & just the central point is cross-type.
I've got a 350D (7 points,), 40D (9 points all cross-type) & 100D (9 points, central cross-type) & on all of them the first thing I did was set the camera to just the central point.
I can then focus & recompose (metering set to CW so that it adapts when I recompose).
I find this much easier than messing about to select a particular point or letting the camera decide. Maybe it's a throwback to the film days of manual focus using the central split prism?
Anyone else do the same?
