Phew ... thought I was being too clever for a brief moment and would have had to hide my head in a large brown paper bag ;-)

I should really let firmware quiesce on the hosting site for a few days before I grab a copy.

Hi All,

I've never had the slightest problem downloading Firmware before but for some reason I can't get this one to work. I can't get it to open properly. Anyone else had a problem or is it me being a technophobe? The thing that slightly worries me is the download doesn't look like the usual Canon download or perhaps they've changed things.

Thanks, Oggie, but what concerns me is this Firmware update isn't on either the CPN or the Canon UK site - yet. I think I'll wait till I'm 100% sure - I'm not sure what happened to 1.2.4. After all, the camera has been working fine so I think it can wait a bit longer for its update. Its probably the technophobe/cynic in me that says wait.

Hi Neil - I got mine from Canon UK here.

Seems that 1.2.4 was installed on some cameras which had been sent for repair, but it was never released as a download.

Hi Oggie,

Been on that one - still can't open the Firmware. All the older stuff I can download & open the older Firmware perfectly, just can't open 1.2.5 once I've downloaded it. Told Canon its not very user friendly - we'll see if they come back to me.

version 125 now out for 7d

I have updated my 7d to 125 but have noticed on shooting menu2 that Auto Lighting Optimizer cannot be set/changed since update, same for Mymenu

I have just checked mine and I can change it. What shooting mode (Av, Sv, Green etc) are you using?

I put 1.2.5 on mine before it was made unavailable for a few days. The replacement was an identical file ... so guess someone just released it too early in some markets.

This week I've been on the Northumberland Coast ... and took many hundred shots. Apart from user error all were fine. So 1.2.5 works for me.

Odd. I googled "Canon UK" then searched the first result for "7D firmware" and got

Hi Oggie,

Finally sorted out what I was doing wrong - I was downloading the Mac version. Don't know why because I did click on the Windows version. Canon sent me a slightly different page to click on which took me to the correct version. So, I'm fully sorted & the camera has been updated.

Hi I had installed ver 1.2.4 and now updated for 1.2.5 and still got same problem with connecting external flash gun / light source. 4 on 10 times it doesn't fire the light is this problem of software or camera? did you noticed this in yours 7D ? When I connected external wireless launcher it was working fine.
another question should I always start up the build in flash to fire external wireless? (in my camera i have to) so don't know if this is an issue to.
