Still not up to the quality you would hope for from an L lens. Anything much over a 4x zoom and there are too many design and manufacturing compromises that need to be made.
Believe me, if they were the way to go, most members on this site would have one. Nothing wrong with convenience, as long as quality doesn't suffer.
