Re: Wide Angle on a FF

Check our CR Webby, it seems Canon have a couple of new FF wide-angles in the offing, including a 14-24 f/2.8 which sounds both expensive and desirable!

The very highly regarded Nikon equivalent is £1300'ish ... so whilst Canon's initial pricing will be higher it may settle down around that price point.

14-24 2.8 sounds brilliant. Like you both say it isn't going to be cheap is it.

The 16-50 f/4 sounds cheaper and reasonably desirable as well :-)

You can use the 14-24mm Nikon lens on a Canon body, I've known people who do. It's sharper than my 14mm f2.8 II (and quite a bit cheaper, foo), but has a lot of distortion (the Canon lens is only 1.5%, so really good). It's also big, unlike the Canon prime. Finally it shows flare quite a bit more (I believe).

IIRC most people use this adapter: http://www.16-9.net/nikon_g/ which is the same as the Novoflex EOS/NIK NT adapter: http://www.novoflex.com/index.php

here's an article on the 14-24, but I believe it refers to an older version of the adapter...

Personally I'd stick to EF glass...

Anybody tried the Sigma 17-35mm F2.8-4 EX DG HSM lens ? (this is the 2nd generation, not the non DG version)

BTW the same shop also have a version of the Nikon ultra-wide zoom: http://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/12276...shop_home_feat
                  ...complete with removable lens hood!
