Mine is tighter than my previous Canon Zoom lenses but not as firm as a L-series Lens which has weather protection seals to enhance build integrity.

Thanks Terry, I think that I will call at the local camera shop tomorrow. I didn't buy the lens there, I got that on Ebay, but I did buy my 550d there a couple of weeks back so that should get me a bit of free advice.

Hello Nathaniel, just a quick note to say I have just bought the Canon EF-S 18mm - 200mm IS, even with my limited knowledge I can say that this is an outstanding lens for the money spent. Can any of the other members give me their thoughts on this lens that I have recommended?
