Chasing The Light - Olympic Competition 2012

    The Idea

A great opportunity for us all to have the same challenge (and subject) across the country*
Would anyone be interested in a competition where the challenge is to take the best photo of the Olympic torch, torch bearer or a member of the supporting entourage as it passes through your town or a town near you?
    * - Sorry to those who are not in the UK - but I hope you will still vote!

    In brief

Choose your best image of the torch and or bearer or entourage. Ensure your image is a maximum of 800 pixels along its widest/longest edge, up to 800Kbytes in size and with the EXIF data intact. The images must have been taken by you using a Canon EOS camera during the period of the competition and be in jpeg format. The images will be posted in a temporary album on the forum after the entry date has closed. After this time registered users will be able to submit anonymous votes for their favourites. Everyone can be a ‘judge’ – you’re voting for the best pictures in your opinion.

    Prize

None, other than the right to use “Winner of the EOS-Magazine-Chasing the Light competition” bragging rights, and may be a cunning fashioned Avatar

    RULES

    ENTRY

    1. Photos must have been taken (dated in EXIF) between 19th May 2012 and 28th July 2012 inclusive and arrive in the organisers inbox (see email details below) before the midnight on the 29th July 2012.
    2. You must be the photographer who created the images and a registered user of the eos-magazine-forum in order to enter the challenge.
    3. You must ensure your images are a maximum of 800 pixels along its widest/longest edge, be in Jpeg format and the file size must not exceed 800Kbytes (the EXIF data must be intact so that this can be verified by the organiser)
    4. Entries should contain no watermarks, distinguishing effects or borders, and must have been taken using a Canon EOS camera.
    5. Images should be sent to the photo_63@hotmail.co.uk and you must indicate in the email (a) your real name, (b) your forum name and (c) a title for each of your photos. Please put “EOS Photos” in the email subject line. Any entries that are not clearly identifiable and verifiable won't be entered into the challenge.
    6. The organiser may also enter the challenge (the entries are anonymous and the organiser is trusted to record votes accurately).
    7. Only one entry is permitted for this challenge. But if you want to withdraw an entry, or replace it, this is allowed providing it is done before the closing date for entry and you make it clear in an email to the challenge organiser what you want doing - so please ensure the email contains clear instructions and (if required) your replacement picture.
    8. This thread is for advice on resizing or clarification of the rules and not for posting images. However, do feel free to use the thread to let others know you have entered!

    VOTING
    1. All registered members of the eos-magazine-forum may vote, including those who submit an entry.
    2. You may not vote for your own entry.
    3. Voters should list their five choices in order of preference, by entry number to avoid confusion.
    4. Points will be allotted as follows: Five points to first choice, four to second choice, three to third choice, two to fourth choice and one to fifth choice.
    5. This competition is just for fun and by entering or voting you accept to abide by the rules and spirit of this competition, and acknowledge that the decision of the challenge organiser is final.
    6. Photos will be posted for seven days as soon after the closing date as possible for registered users to vote upon.
    7. Votes will be accepted up to midnight on the seventh day.
    8. Results will be announced early in the following week.
    9. Pictures will be removed from the temporary Album approximately a month after the winner is announced.

Remember it's just for fun - Good luck!

Very disappointed to have already missed this as it arrived in Aghios Nikolaos the same day we did, albeit a couple of hours earlier. It won't look quite as good in Wolverhampton, I'm sure!

Well it's here tomorrow (Thursday) and I wanted a day at the seaside with camera, SWMBO wants to see a gold coloured perforated piece of metal being carried by someone who no one really knows. She wins.

Good man Stephen. Its these little things that will allow her to sign-off future investments: a new body or piece of glass. As long as you kept your eyes off the GB beach volleyball team you're safe. It shows their picture in today's commentary but says they were in London! confusing.

Shame the ladies GB beach volleyball team weren't in Hereford yesterday.
I must admit those police runners are certainly fit (as in fitness).
A great turnout in Hereford on what is traditionally market day.
