      Re: Just one lens!

I'll go for my 70-200 f2.8 for its image quality and low light capability. But it's a close run thing as my 24-105 is a solid well used lens.

I cannot pretend it's light, but my OpTech sling strap make it pretty comfortable to carry.

            LOL... I think you'd need a wheelbarrow more than a strap ;o)

especially if its a walkabout version - those engineers at Canon really know how to pack a lens ;o)

What? I just off the phone with Canon USA asking why that wonderlens isn't available in the U.S. market? They guy told me it was a UK-only model, made to exactly fit the machine gun mount in a WWII Spitfire!

                            When I bought my first slr it was 50mm or nothing. After a while I got a 28mm & a 135mm - zooms didn't exist!

                            Favourite now is 24-105L

I actually put myself to that situation one time. I spend two months in a thailand with 60D and 30mm (~50mm eq.) prime. First of all, i wanted to challenge myself. I choose this lens because it's quite small, quite good in a tight places but doesn't stretch perspective in a portraits.

Like others, I too have covered weddings with only the 24-105mm. Again, it is my most used lens and hardly ever comes off my 5D Mk II.
the 15-85mm would also be my choice for a crop sensor (the "equivalent" to) 24-136mm.
