    Re: Printing Services

It's not an answer to the question but perhaps a slightly amusing aside... We have an "HP Designjet T520 610mm inkjet eprinter" lurking in the office at work, generally for large architecture diagrams - up to A1 size - but of course it will do smaller. It's not intended as a photo printer but it seems it does have photo capabilities with the right roll of paper.

I say seems because after I'd printed some work stuff on it, someone accidentally printed one of my early 7D mk II shots on it. I have no idea how that could have happened but I can confirm that a close to full-frame, as in minimally cropped, shot from a mk II prints very nicely at A3 and the design jet T520 is a very capable piece of kit. The only downside is that the damn thing costs just short of a grand and running costs aren't exactly low. Sigh.

Oh, the chump that printed my photo managed to pick one of a pair of swans, err, humping, so my wife has decreed that it won't be framed and stuck on the wall. Unless we can find a relative who can take either take a joke or we can make the butt of one...
EOS 7D mk II, Sigma 150-660C, Canon 17-85 EF-S, Tamron 10-24 and a wife who shares my obsession.

So is mine :) I must admit I am lazy about posting photos on that site or any others including here. Yours looks good, I must get round to updating mine and getting some more images on it.

I just bought the name as a bit of fun and put that theme onto it - I should really do more with it but coding that doesn't pay the bills

Photobox are very good although i have only used them for standard 6 x 4 prints. However i have just checked their price for a 15 x 10 print, the size i use for photo competitions and at £3.25 it is over 3 times the price for those from DSColourlabs with whom i am more than satisfied

Hi Stan do you send DScolourlabs tiff or jpg file for your competition prints and do you do any sharpening prior to sending to them ?

I usually just send them my large processed jpeg so no further processing or sharpening.

                    Re: Printing Services

I have received two 45 by 30 inch prints from one of the companies listed in this thread. Thanks David Stallard

I really wanted to see what the images looked like when printed large, I have to say I'm very pleased with the results. I now have to save up/rob a bank! and get some frames for them now, SWMBO said see likes them and is deciding which wall space is suitable for them

Has anyone any tips on how best to remove the paper tension caused by the prints being shipped in a tube ?
