EOS 6D Mark II vignette on a wide angle lens

    Hello everyone,

Hoping someone can share some insight with how to solve this. Apparently I was not as naughty as i thought i was, since I was given a new camera body for Christmas. I currently have my 17-40mm 1:4 L series wide angle lens on the camera body. This is my first full frame camera and when I zoom to 17 to 19mm, there is an awful and very pronounced vignette. The lens is registered to the camera, all the lens correction settings that I could find are turned on.

I am aware this is related to how the angle of the light hits the sensor, wondering if there is any way to remove the vignette so I can gain those 3 extra mm's?

    Kind regards,
    Kevin

Do you have a filter fitted to the front of the lens?

If so, try removing it - the frame on some filters is deep enough to give problems on wide lenses.

I have a 6D mkII and the 17-40L. There can be some darkening of the corners at 17mm when using the lens wide open. This disappears at f5.6 and above.
Agree with John about filters - I use a Hoya Pro 1 digital protector filter which is very slim and also makes the lens weather proof!

Do you have acess to another FF body to check out the lens or could you post an image showing the vignetting?

Thank you all for answers! Yes I do have a polarizer on the lens, but the culprit was the magnetic ring for my ND filters, removing that got rid of the vignette. Thank you again and Happy New Year.
